Day Two....

This is where I work. I'm loving it. It's soooooo different from the bank. First off, everyone likes each other. Second, they all want to be there. Third, the company really seems to appreciate its employees.

There's actually a ping pong table in one of the 3 lunch rooms. They supply all tea and coffee. Also they have a soda machine like the fast food restaurants. You can get a buzz refilling your soda all day long.
I haven't met the CEO yet but I've seen his dogs. Yep, he brings them to work. Anyone who loves his animals that much has to be a great person.
Even though I've just been there 2 days, I'm loving it. I'm helping Maureen who runs the front desk. She's a jack of all trades and extremely sweet and patient. I don't think she has a mean bone in her body. Everyone appears to be that way.

Yesterday, I answered the phone and lost the guy during the transfer. When he called back I told him it was my fault and I was sorry. Then explained I was only a few hours old. He joked with me and laughed at me. Luckily the second try went through.

What I love best about this job over the Bank is, I get to leave it at work. I'm not taking any stress home and just show up to help Maureen on projects.

When I worked for the bank, I was always waking up during the night thinking what I had to do the next day, which officers I had to deal with and what things I needed to completed. Yep, iTradeNetwork is definitely the complete opposite of the bank.

It's also nice that it just takes 20 minutes to get there. It's a straight shot down Camino Tassajara then Las Positas and I'm there.

Among the Employed

Well, today I start my new job. I'm not nervous. I don't know why, I'm just not. Maybe because the interview went so well and everyone was so nice. Maybe because I was a merchandiser for so long and got used to constantly meeting new people. Or....maybe, at my age it's a natural progression not to be nervous. Who knows.

I decided what I was going to wear yesterday but instantly ran into a problem. I'd lost so much weight my skirts don't fit anymore. My comment to D was, "I didn't know I'd gotten that fat!"

I don't remember what his comment was only that it was diplomatic. LOL!

I bought some new tops at Kohl's the other day. I couldn't find any slacks but the tops were a screamin' deal. The dress code is casual professional. I had on a nice dress for the interview and got the impression I was overdressed for the office. I'm wearing a skirt and sweater today but I'll be checking to see what everyone else is wearing.

Just a short and sweet blog post this morning. Gotta put something on walkersforknockers2010.blogspot.com now.

No Pictures but Good News!!

Well no pictures today because I'm just in a lazy mood.

Instead I'm gonna brag that, "I GOT A JOB!!!" YAHOO!

I quit messing around with answering ads on the internet and went to an agency. They sent me out on a job interview right away (yesterday) and I got the job today.

It's stuff I did years ago with the bank so will be a low key easy going position. The most important thing is, I fell in love with all three women I interviewed with. Down to earth smart cookies.

Also important is, it's 5 days a week from 10-1. That means it won't interfere with PAW's Embroidery.

Whoopie....I report Monday so will let you know how it goes.

Grandchildren.

I woke up last night so furious over the Health Care Bill passing due to sleezy back alley deals, that I thought I'd better find something light and happy to talk about today. Sooooooo....it's a talk about the grandkids day.

Now you know I don't have human ones, so here are some blatant "OH NO....DOG PICTURES!", to look at.

Okay Nana, here's a current picture of your grandsons. For everyone else, Coal is on the left and Coco is on the right.

I love Coal's ears. They're always droopy like that. I believe he thinks it gives him sympathy and makes him look cute.
I thought this was hilarious and cute. Of course, I'm not the one who has to replace the mini blind once Coal has messed it up.
Apparently, by the look on his face, he knows he's not suppose to be ruining the blind. I didn't know that until S got home and saw him with his head sticking through the slats.
S was in the other room and the boys were jumping up and down trying to get her attention. They don't bark, they just jump and squeal a bit. Look how high Coco gets. Now I know Nisie isn't the only one who can jump that high.
When I looked out the bedroom window this morning I saw a couple of Doves tending a nest in the flower pot. Looks like I'm getting some two legged grandkids.

I know, I know....I shouldn't take credit for nature's work but I'm thinking because they're in my pot on my porch, they're mine. Yep....that's what I'm gonna think.

Well, until they grow up and fly away.

Yawn....When I Open My Eyes....

The downside to remodeling the bedroom is we're sleeping in the spa room with our mattresses on the floor.

The upside is, I was laying on my side this morning and opened my eyes and this was my view. I don't have to sit up, lean or crane my neck. Just opened my little peepers and the sun was welcoming me to another day of life.

The picture is a little fuzzy because it's taken through the screen. If you look closely you can see the spider webs that have accumulated throughout the winter.
If I lay on my back, this was the view. Mother nature sure has a vivid imagination. Ya gotta love the gal!
Within minutes the red of the sky was gone and I was left looking at the gazebo. It's pretty but not nearly as beautiful as the morning sky.

Cancer Pillows

I often laugh at my thought processes and how I come up with some of the stuff I do.

In my previous post, I mentioned Nancy's breast cancer fight. She'd asked if I would make some heart pillows to donate for women to use after their surgery. The pillow Sarah sent me a sample of looked like a convention heart pillow so, I made the pattern above. I curved the center of the top of the heart a bit more to comfortably fit under your arm.
The pillow isn't quite a perfect heart but fits very nicely under the arm. I told Nancy if she wanted them to look more like a Valentine's heart I could do that. She said, "NO! They're perfect and fit great!"

I love this design. It was supposed to be black with flesh thread sewing out the face and hands. I thought that wouldn't depict all women battling breast cancer, so I omitted the face indicating the disease doesn't care about skin color.
I thought this bible was pretty and would appeal to the more religious woman.
Nancy fell in love with this pillow, so I told her to keep it for herself. She was thrilled because she was drawn to the fleece and the quilt style heart. Now she can have a pillow at home and one to keep in her car for her trips to the doctor.

Our Walkers for Knockers team is forming nicely. I've made my goal with a promise from a former boss to donate $25 dollars to my walk.

Sarah & Brittany (our captains) are working on a hilarious way to raise money for our team. I created a blog for Walkers for Knockers so if you want, you can track what we're doing. It's at http://walkersforknockers2010.blogspot.com/. I've also added a link to the right side of this blog that will take you there.

Well, that's it for today. Time to go through the mail and ignore the bills and throw the rest away. Hahahahahahaha!

Think Pink.....

Even though it's a dark dreary rainy day, the flowering trees and plants are showing off. The almond tree is almost done for the season and there are just a few flowers left. The flowering plums are just beginning and they look like cotton candy. As you can see, some euryops are covered in yellow flowers while others (see the one in the background) are just starting to bloom.

I love this time of year when everything is fresh and new.
I just read my sister's blog and found another one of my Aunts has cancer. I hate that disease. I know we're all going to die of something but I hope when my time comes it's a heart attack in my sleep. Dying doesn't scare me. It's how I die that does.

My daughter-in-laws mother was just diagnosed with breast cancer. Last week they did a biopsy and removed a mass the size of a walnut from her breast. We don't have the results yet but the doctors believe they got it all.

She doesn't sew, so asked me if I'd make 2 heart pillows to donate to the hospital. Apparently volunteers make them to donate. When a woman has breast surgery, they give her a pillow to put under her arm for comfort during the healing process. I'm thinking of making three or four if I have time. I'm working on different embroidered designs to put on each one.

I'll be running in the Relay for Life marathon in San Ramon in June. My daughter in law is the captain and she's got soooooo many ways of raising money. I'm surprised I've raised $65 so far. I have to add in another $10 from my Australian friends. My individual goal is $100.

My sister mentioned in her blog about buying pink items so donations get made to breast cancer research. My in-laws both died of cancer so the way I honor them is to make a donation on their birthday to the American Cancer Society. I figure if they were alive, I'd be buying a gift for them. Since they're no longer physically with me, I can still celebrate their birthdays with a small donation.
