Just rambling on....

I'll be rambling a bit in this blog. I just had so many cool pictures I couldn't decide which ones to omit.

After having two kids of his own, D is still a bit intimated when holding Em. It's like he's afraid to have her sit up. It's rather funny.
One of the very few pictures of me with my granddaughter. I'm usually on the other side of the camera.
The boy child decided to take a shot at growing a beard while he was home. He's back to work now, so I'm guessing he's clean shaven again.

Look at those rosy cheeks. If he had white hair and beard, he'd make a great Santa! Hahahahahahaha!
This will be the outside trim for the deck. D decided to keep it clean and simple.
For those who thought the deck was skinny, that's true. I would have made it bigger but it's 5' deep on the front and back.
On this side, it's 10' deep. Look at that, the old gal still has it! This was Monday. We had President's day off so decided to do some deck work. It was cold but I really enjoyed myself. The next day I was a bit stiff and my knees were sore from standing up and down but I was happy.
Last Saturday I went shopping with S and the baby. She took me to a really cool place that sells unique second hand stuff. I'm ashamed to say, I've owned a ton of the stuff they were selling. I'd bought it all new years ago. Hahahaha! And their vintage clothes??? Oh my, it's the stuff we wore to school mixed in with what our mother's were wearing at the time. Talk about feeling old!

Anyway, I found this really cool rolling pin. It has chrome handles and a copper roller and cost me a whopping $8. My favorite rolling pin is a glass one my mother-in-law always used. You could fill it with warm or ice water depending on the dough you're working with. The cap cracked and then I lost it so I can't use it like I used to. I think this one will be much nicer to use than my wooden one. We'll see.....
I'm jealous because the neighbor's flowering plum is blooming and all of mine are still in the bud stage.
The neighbor also has this plant. It grows huge and the deer don't seem to like it. I need to take a clipping to the nursery and find out what it is. I love the little yellow nubs on it.
Since the truck has been out of commission, we use my car to take the garbage down the road. This is D sitting on the tailgate holding onto the two garbage cans. He's only fallen off once. He decided it would be a good thing to do right after work. He had on nice slacks instead of jeans and rolled out the back when we got to the steep part of the hill like he was sitting on butter.

It was hilarious!
I just couldn't resist taking this picture the other day. It's actually darker than it was in person. It reminded me of a baby blanket. It was a lighter pink and baby blue. Just beautiful to look at.
Nissie drives me nuts every night around 5. She wants to go to bed and won't leave me alone until I put her down for the night. Then if I go in the bedroom to get something, she looks at me like I'm punishing her.

If I let her out, she'll drive me nuts to put her back to bed. Yet if I leave the door open, she won't go in by herself. It's a darn puzzle. LOL!

Four new posts.

I've been busy and haven't posted for awhile so I'm doing 4 individual posts. That way you can catch up when you're in the mood.

For D's birthday last month he wanted the kids to come over and celebrate Christmas again. It was to be an informal affair and the food for the night was going to be your favorite junk food.

The menu consisted of Cracker Jacks, freshly baked oatmeal cookies, artichoke dip, chips, Triscuts, Red Vines, Fresh Strawberries and Pizza. It was wonderful.

S brought her little snack wrapped in a soft pink blanket. Come on, you just have to nibble those little fingers.
Life is so hard at this stage isn't it? LOL!
Patrick and Marge brought our other little grandchild. No, he's not blood related but genetics are only a little part of family. I've never seen a little guy eat so many cookies and get away with it. Yes, his cheek is protruding because there is a cookie in there.
I've got to admit, my grand daughter has one large pair of big eyes. And...she doesn't miss a thing.
Ahhh...look, my little baby with his little baby. How sweet is that. S told me the other day Em laughed for him. He was so happy! He and S have many more treats like that to come.
D said no gifts for his birthday but S & S gave him this picture. It's absolutely adorable. I haven't decided where to hang it, so it is gracing the entry hall table. I'm getting used to it being there and might leave it a bit longer. It's the first thing we see when we come in the front door.

Deck..deck...deckie deck.

I thought you'd like to see how D is doing with the deck. After all, it has cost him two fingers. LOL! I've heard of a two finger martini but not a two finger deck.

I went over the other night after work and gave him a hand. I was beat from working all day but it was actually very refreshing being out in the cool evening air after being in a stuffy office all day.

We worked until it was too dark to do anything else.
This is the backside of the house. I told D if he bought and cut the wood for the door frames, I'd get them painted and installed on the weekend while he was at work. He loved the idea but I haven't seen any new lumber yet.

Mundane but necessary project.....

Well, the other day I got a bee in my bonnet and decided to tackle a job that was loooooong overdue. My dresser. With the new 'energy saving' lightbulbs there isn't enough light in the morning to see in my dresser to get my lingerie. So, I end up making a mess out of it.

In an attempt to simplify things and make my mornings easier, I dumped the contents the entire dresser and drawers (except 1) out on the bed and ruthlessly decided what to keep and what to throw away.
I was very strong. I tried on bras, undies and nylons. If I had to think more than 5 seconds on if I'd wear it again, it went in the garbage bag. I threw away brand spanking new and expensive bras. If they weren't comfortable as soon as I put it on, out it went. Hm....I don't even feel bad thinking about it today.
I ended up almost filling to the top, a big bag that we get 40 pounds of pellets in. If I couldn't find the mate to a sock, out it went! If I find the mate later, I'll toss that too. I now have a small spot I keep mismatched socks in. If it gets too large, in the trash they'll go and I'll start fresh again.

It took almost half a day for this job but I feel better already!

Advertisement for Fake Lawn

I've decided we are an advertisement for fake grass. Here we are already through fall and winter and yet my lawn looks like this. Usually, it's knee high and green as can be. Not this year.
Natures lawnmowers are eating the lawn roots up. As you can tell, they're very afraid of me. So afraid this one decided she need to potty break before fright set in. LOL!
After relieving herself, she and her friend decided to graze a bit more before the little girl on the other side of the gate drew their attention and they decided they were full.
This one wasn't hungry enough to jump the gate and eat. She must have been at the front lawn mowing it before meandering to the backyard.
