No Pictures but Good News!!

Well no pictures today because I'm just in a lazy mood.

Instead I'm gonna brag that, "I GOT A JOB!!!" YAHOO!

I quit messing around with answering ads on the internet and went to an agency. They sent me out on a job interview right away (yesterday) and I got the job today.

It's stuff I did years ago with the bank so will be a low key easy going position. The most important thing is, I fell in love with all three women I interviewed with. Down to earth smart cookies.

Also important is, it's 5 days a week from 10-1. That means it won't interfere with PAW's Embroidery.

Whoopie....I report Monday so will let you know how it goes.

Grandchildren.

I woke up last night so furious over the Health Care Bill passing due to sleezy back alley deals, that I thought I'd better find something light and happy to talk about today. Sooooooo....it's a talk about the grandkids day.

Now you know I don't have human ones, so here are some blatant "OH NO....DOG PICTURES!", to look at.

Okay Nana, here's a current picture of your grandsons. For everyone else, Coal is on the left and Coco is on the right.

I love Coal's ears. They're always droopy like that. I believe he thinks it gives him sympathy and makes him look cute.
I thought this was hilarious and cute. Of course, I'm not the one who has to replace the mini blind once Coal has messed it up.
Apparently, by the look on his face, he knows he's not suppose to be ruining the blind. I didn't know that until S got home and saw him with his head sticking through the slats.
S was in the other room and the boys were jumping up and down trying to get her attention. They don't bark, they just jump and squeal a bit. Look how high Coco gets. Now I know Nisie isn't the only one who can jump that high.
When I looked out the bedroom window this morning I saw a couple of Doves tending a nest in the flower pot. Looks like I'm getting some two legged grandkids.

I know, I know....I shouldn't take credit for nature's work but I'm thinking because they're in my pot on my porch, they're mine. Yep....that's what I'm gonna think.

Well, until they grow up and fly away.

Yawn....When I Open My Eyes....

The downside to remodeling the bedroom is we're sleeping in the spa room with our mattresses on the floor.

The upside is, I was laying on my side this morning and opened my eyes and this was my view. I don't have to sit up, lean or crane my neck. Just opened my little peepers and the sun was welcoming me to another day of life.

The picture is a little fuzzy because it's taken through the screen. If you look closely you can see the spider webs that have accumulated throughout the winter.
If I lay on my back, this was the view. Mother nature sure has a vivid imagination. Ya gotta love the gal!
Within minutes the red of the sky was gone and I was left looking at the gazebo. It's pretty but not nearly as beautiful as the morning sky.

Cancer Pillows

I often laugh at my thought processes and how I come up with some of the stuff I do.

In my previous post, I mentioned Nancy's breast cancer fight. She'd asked if I would make some heart pillows to donate for women to use after their surgery. The pillow Sarah sent me a sample of looked like a convention heart pillow so, I made the pattern above. I curved the center of the top of the heart a bit more to comfortably fit under your arm.
The pillow isn't quite a perfect heart but fits very nicely under the arm. I told Nancy if she wanted them to look more like a Valentine's heart I could do that. She said, "NO! They're perfect and fit great!"

I love this design. It was supposed to be black with flesh thread sewing out the face and hands. I thought that wouldn't depict all women battling breast cancer, so I omitted the face indicating the disease doesn't care about skin color.
I thought this bible was pretty and would appeal to the more religious woman.
Nancy fell in love with this pillow, so I told her to keep it for herself. She was thrilled because she was drawn to the fleece and the quilt style heart. Now she can have a pillow at home and one to keep in her car for her trips to the doctor.

Our Walkers for Knockers team is forming nicely. I've made my goal with a promise from a former boss to donate $25 dollars to my walk.

Sarah & Brittany (our captains) are working on a hilarious way to raise money for our team. I created a blog for Walkers for Knockers so if you want, you can track what we're doing. It's at http://walkersforknockers2010.blogspot.com/. I've also added a link to the right side of this blog that will take you there.

Well, that's it for today. Time to go through the mail and ignore the bills and throw the rest away. Hahahahahahaha!

Think Pink.....

Even though it's a dark dreary rainy day, the flowering trees and plants are showing off. The almond tree is almost done for the season and there are just a few flowers left. The flowering plums are just beginning and they look like cotton candy. As you can see, some euryops are covered in yellow flowers while others (see the one in the background) are just starting to bloom.

I love this time of year when everything is fresh and new.
I just read my sister's blog and found another one of my Aunts has cancer. I hate that disease. I know we're all going to die of something but I hope when my time comes it's a heart attack in my sleep. Dying doesn't scare me. It's how I die that does.

My daughter-in-laws mother was just diagnosed with breast cancer. Last week they did a biopsy and removed a mass the size of a walnut from her breast. We don't have the results yet but the doctors believe they got it all.

She doesn't sew, so asked me if I'd make 2 heart pillows to donate to the hospital. Apparently volunteers make them to donate. When a woman has breast surgery, they give her a pillow to put under her arm for comfort during the healing process. I'm thinking of making three or four if I have time. I'm working on different embroidered designs to put on each one.

I'll be running in the Relay for Life marathon in San Ramon in June. My daughter in law is the captain and she's got soooooo many ways of raising money. I'm surprised I've raised $65 so far. I have to add in another $10 from my Australian friends. My individual goal is $100.

My sister mentioned in her blog about buying pink items so donations get made to breast cancer research. My in-laws both died of cancer so the way I honor them is to make a donation on their birthday to the American Cancer Society. I figure if they were alive, I'd be buying a gift for them. Since they're no longer physically with me, I can still celebrate their birthdays with a small donation.

My Aching Back....

I won't whine too much because unloading and stacking a pallet of pellets is faster and easier then 3 cords of wood. However, I will say I was beat after staking this pallet.

Thursday night D brought home a pallet of pellets. That's 50 bags that weigh 40 pounds each. He was sick Friday so I thought I'd help out and unload the truck and surprise him.
It took me 1 1/2 hours to stack these. Come on....remember I'm old. LOL! I took a break after every 10 bags or so. I actually didn't break a sweat until bag 40. I was tired but still plugging along. When bag 43 came along I was starting to struggle. At bag 47 it didn't matter if the bags weighed 40 pounds for 40,000 pounds, they were murder to get into the house and stack.
Thinking I was all done, last night (Sunday) D brought home another pallet of pellets. I didn't want them in the family room so we backed the truck up to the bedroom window and stacked them in the spa room.
We moved mom's sewing cabinet in front of the window and I hefted each bag through and set them inside for D to move to the spa room. See me struggle a bit?
See him pick it up like it's a pillow? Arghhhh! When he started picking them up two at a time I told him to knock it off.
We did have one little issue. I wasn't born nice and tall like my daughter. I tried putting the bags through the window but couldn't get them high enough. D got a couple of blocks of wood and they were just tall enough to put me chest high with the bottom of the window.
I think my stack in the family room looks much more professional. But I'm not gonna complain because it took the two of us about 20 minutes to unload and stack these. Nope....I'm not gonna complain.

The only problem I'm having now is my back is killing me. I hurt it stacking the first 50 bags Friday. I don't know why I thought I could do these and not hurt it again. It's verrrrrryyyy painful. I can't sit, stand or lay down. I was a good consumer about a week or so ago and went through all the meds and got rid of all the pills we hadn't used in a year.

Boy am I regretting tossing the Vicodin. DUH! The Tylenol I've been popping today isn't doing a darn thing. I guess the upside is, I have a doctors appointment Wednesday so if it doesn't get better he can give me a muscle relaxer.

For now, I'm running a nice hot bath with my bath therapy stuff in it. The tub just can't fill fast enough for my taste.

The socks were hung by the chimney with care....

I always struggle where to lay out my socks to get them to dry. Today D and I were discussing making a bottom face place for the pellet stove. While I was standing there, I thought of Christmas and the story, The Night Before Christmas.
Now I don't have to wait for the sun to come out so it'll dry my socks. I'll continue to take a hint from Christmas and dry them the good old fashioned way.
